BALKARAN SINGH SIDHU

Desautels McGill Class of 25, McGill University 

Balkaran Singh Sidhu, a native of a small village in Rajasthan, India, earned his engineering degree from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in New Delhi. For over five years, he has been employed at one of India’s top public sector banks, Union Bank of India, where he has held managerial and sales head positions. Balkaran has played an instrumental role in the implementation of several government initiatives for financial inclusion in low-income housing societies in Mumbai. Currently based in Mumbai, Balkaran has been recognized for his exceptional work and has been awarded a scholarship to attend McGill University in Canada, where he has been accepted into the Desautels McGill Class of 25, as well as received an offer of admission from Schulich.

During his banking career, Balkaran has had the opportunity to work with a diverse set of clients, which has helped him develop strong communication and interpersonal skills. He strongly believes in the power of storytelling and recognizes that a compelling personal narrative can set an applicant apart from the competition.
